Carriage House Wineworks

We're members of their wine club

A hidden gem in Waterford: a small family winery whose Petit Verdot made the Governor's Case and whose Cab Franc beat $200 bottles in a blind tasting.

The definition of a hidden gem. We learned about Carriage House when their Petite Verdot landed in the Virginia Governors Case a few years back. Its a small, family operation making wines that will stand up to some of the best. (We can attest to this as we once put their cabernet franc against four other cab francs from across the world in a blind tasting - bottles ranging from $35 (Carriage House) to $200. The Carriage House was the unanimous winner.) Carriage House remains one of our recommendations for a visit focused on the wine - and to showcase the diversity of wineries in the northern Virginia area. Its Waterford location makes it a useful companion to Walsh for a day exploring this part of Loudoun.
